Overview
SebArt - SEBMC50-RG - Macchi M.C. 72 50E/50-90+ GP 60" ARF w/Floats Red / Gold (A214)
The SebArt MC-72 50E scale ARF, was designed by 13 time Italian Champion Sebastiano Silvestri, vice-European Champion and F.A.I World Cup winner F3A. This professional ARF model is the result of Sebastianos long research and experience in F3A as well as his passion for scale planes. This combined with an extremely light weight structure makes the MC-72 50E an impressive aircraft that is precise and easy to control at any airspeed and flight condition. The MC-72 50E is able to take off and land on both water as well as grass surfaces, thanks to small wheels on the bottom of the pontoons. It is also ready for any pattern maneuvers such as unbelievable easy knife edges, loops, rolling circles, negative flat spins... and almost anything else you can dream up!
- The full scale Macchi Castoldi MC-72 became the fastest propeller driven sea plane in history on October 23, 1933, a record speed of 440.68 mph, a record that still stands today. The story of the aircraft stared in 1928, when Macchi Aeronautica began working with G. Diliberto and M. Castoldi on the Macchi Castoldi. The MC-72 was the most revolutionary project for a Schneider Cup racer at the time with its twin engine design. Two Fiat V-12 engines linked together in tandem, powered two counter-rotating propellers, an arrangement that worked surprisingly well. The advantage of this design is that counter-rotating propellers balance the effects of torque, making control of the plane easier in every flight condition. While the aircraft could be a hand full for novice pilots, the more experienced pilots praised the MC-72 for its speed, responsiveness, and directional stability. The Macchi Castoldi MC-72 remains a winner to this date
